Prevalence and Disclosure of Child Abuse in Israel. Prevalence of violence against children in Israel, as well as encouraging vs. inhibiting factors for disclosure based on data collected from Jewish and Arab students (age range 12-17) within the Israeli national school system (N=12,035) will be presented. Data collection for the study utilized two complementary instruments: The Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ) and the Juvenile Victimization Questionnaire (JVQ). The results of the study revealed that contrary to other countries, Israeli boys reported higher rates of abuse, including sexual abuse, compared to girls. Additionally, Arab compared to Jewish children and youth reported higher rates of all types of abuse. Perceptions of child abuse according to severity of children and youth compared to parents will also be presented.
