This presentation will describe two interventions for young children and their families, imported from the U.S. by the Haruv Institute. Both are well known in the U.S., and new to Israel. CPP has been offered to individual clinicians throughout the country, while SafeCare is being implemented by the Social Services of the Municipality of Ashdod.

Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) is an evidence-based intervention for children aged 0-6 who have experienced traumatic events, and their families. It aims to restore the sense of physical and emotional security in a parent-child relationship that has been disturbed by trauma, in order to promote self-regulation and a safe communication and to improve the child's social, cognitive and behavioral functioning. CPP is based on four theoretical frameworks: attachment theory, trauma knowledge, developmental psychology, and a cultural framework that helps to understand beliefs and practices in raising children.
